Front Seats – I have located and purchased a set of 76 Blazer high back seats. They will need to be recovered, but they are complete with all necessary mounting brackets.
L/R Outer Rocker
L/R Inner Rocker
L/R front body mount channel
L/R door – With the purchase of a 1990 Suburban, I will be using the front doors from it, cutting them down to work with the convertible top.
Bed floor section (to close up the hole someone cut in the back) – Part of the bed floor from the 1990 Suburban donor truck will be used to repair the floor in the K5. Converting the rear seat from a bolt in rigid seat to the flip forward seat found in the later K5′s. The access panel for the fuel pump & sending unit will be retained, but recessed to provide a completely flush floor.
Radio (newer cd/mp3 deck preferably) – Initially, the entire dash (with stereo, hvac, etc) from the ’90 Suburban will be swapped into the K5.
Wiring – I will be attempting to graft the ’90 electrical system in with the original wiring for the head/tail lights on the ’74.
Transmission – I will either be attempting to locate an TH700R4 from a 4wd truck or buying a conversion tail shaft to allow the TH700R4 to mount to a TH350 NP203 transfer case adapter & input shaft. The transmission in the ’90 Suburban donor truck was recently replaced. Given that it is a 2wd transmission, my choices are to convert it & keep it in the K5 or leave it alone to use in my Chevelle; finding another transmission for the K5. Decisions, decisions…
Transfer Case – My initial thoughts were to attempt to find an NP241 transfer case to install, but given the somewhat rare passenger side drop NP241 and the fact that I just picked up two NP205 transfer cases and have a spare NP203, the outlook for a triple sticked NP203/NP205 doubler is very good!
