I really do not have a plan for the braking system yet. However, I did just have a nice little piece drop into my lap. During some AVET training (Accident Victim Extrication Training), we did some “work” on a 1996 Chevrolet Astro AWD. This van had a hydroboost brake assist. After finding out who was responsible for the vehicle after we were done with it, I was able to pull the brake assist off of the truck for nothing!
I will update this page in a bit once I have the hydroboost unit cleaned up. Considering that this would have cost over $200 to get a rebuilt unit, I consider it a nice surprise!
I will use ideas and information from Hydratech, Performance Online, and, ofcourse, Team Chevelle to complete this adaptation. For rebuild options, MBM Brake Boosters has them.
As I am planning on upgrading to disc brakes on the front, I will likely use the master cylinder from the Astro as well. It is made to work directly with the booster. It may look a little out of place with its plastic reservoir, but I am sure it will work properly with the appropriate proportioning valve.
